    • Spinach
    • Pumpkins and squash

    Protein

    Although carbohydrates are best known for providing your body with fuel, after an injury, protein will be the best for repairing muscles and speeding up your recovery time. Protein also provides you with a much more long-lasting source of fuel that your body can use well to keep you going without adding weight that could slow down your recovery and put extra pressure on your back or joints.

    Protein is found in the highest concentrations in:

    • Chicken
    • Eggs
