From time to time we all take stock of where we are in life and make plans for what we will achieve over the coming months; but what happens if, through no fault of our own, our hopes and dreams are dashed as a result of accident or injury? In a reflective frame of mind ourselves, here at Accident Advice Helpline we look back over some startling facts and make some suggestions of things to add to your personal ‘to do’ lists.
UK fall accident claims – the facts
Over a quarter of the UK population say that they have suffered some form of personal injury or accident in the past five years.
- Only one in five of those suffering personal injury or an accident will have made a claim for compensation, with over a third of those who suffered in silence believing that their injury was not severe enough.
- Almost 80% of all personal injury claims made each year in the UK relate to road traffic accidents: In 2011, the number of claims made resulting from whiplash injuries increased by a whopping 18%.
- From 2011-2012 1.1 million working people were suffering from a work-related illness and 27 million working days were lost due to work-related illness and workplace injury.
At Accident Advice Helpline, we have been working for over ten years to successfully bring compensation to thousands of victims who have been injured through no fault of their own in accidents in public areas, on the road, or in the workplace. Regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority and endorsed by consumer champion Esther Rantzen, we are proud of our reputation for integrity and reliability. Who better, then, to suggest a few ideas for your personal ‘to do’ lists?
Put yourself first
An injury sustained as the result of an accident can have consequences which extend far beyond an immediate impact on personal health, financial and emotional pressures putting strain on relationships at work and at home. If you have been hurt through someone else’s fault during the last three years, you might be able to make an injury claim for compensation to make life just that little bit easier.
Put yourself first and take some immediate steps. Our 30-second compensation calculator will give you an indication of how much money you could receive as a result of your injury claim.

It’s a good idea to be prepared and to gather together all documents you have relating to your accident, so that you have everything on hand when you make your claim. Photographic evidence of the accident and bank statements, receipts and invoices detailing costs incurred as a result will all help to ensure that your claim is fast, efficient and stress free.
