Using Accident Advice Helpline specialist whiplash solicitors

Using our specialist whiplash solicitors is the sensible thing to do if you have sustained a whiplash injury through no fault of your own.  The law in the UK says that if anyone is injured in an accident that was not their fault sometime in the previous three years, if those injuries needed medical attention, the guilty party should compensate them for the suffering they have caused.

This is a legal right that victims should make sure they see through, as why should they have to bear the brunt of an accident which was caused by someone else?

The serious consequences of a whiplash injury

Most cases of whiplash are fairly mild and will remedy themselves with a few weeks rest to allow the neck to heal. A few painkillers might be needed, but not much else except time. Moderate whiplash will take longer to heal, but the treatment is just the same.

The real problems start for the victims that have chronic whiplash because there are so many other symptoms they can experience, such as:

    • Pains in other parts of their body
    • Nausea
    • Vertigo
    • Blurred vision and dizziness
    • Tiredness through sleeping problems
    • Depression

Some victims never fully recover from whiplash, and others develop other chronic pain syndromes, which stay with them for the rest of their lives.  With these conditions it is more a case of pain management rather than being able to cure them.

Some times a neck brace is used to help support the neck, but these should not be used for prolonged periods as they can have an adverse effect on mobility.

    The effects on your life

When you suffer from severe whiplash, the effects on your life can be huge. Suddenly you can find yourself unable to carry out everyday tasks. Things we take for granted like getting dressed or having a shower can become a big problem.  This is just one of the effects that needs to be accounted for when making your personal injury compensation claim.
