South Derbyshire accident claim solicitors for accidents whilst cooking

Cooking is a fantastic way to relax, and it’s also a good way to save money, and get an idea of exactly what is in the food that you’re eating. You can eat much more healthily when you cook yourself, because you can control the amount of salt, sugar and oils that you put in your food. You can also cram recipes with vegetables if you want to, and add or subtract ingredients that you really don’t like. If you want to save time whilst cooking, you can buy time saving additions like pre chopped vegetables, or there are even companies that send out all the ingredients you’ll need for specific recipes, together with the recipe itself. It even has small amounts of spices and herbs pre-measured so that you don’t have to buy an entire jar of spices for just one recipe. You don’t have to go vegan or follow a special low fat diet to get much more from your food. And there’s hundreds of good recipe books out there, with suggestions that can make you drool just looking at them. Sometimes it’s hard to know what to cook first!

    Be Careful in the Kitchen!

So how could such a great thing go wrong? Well, of course you need to be really careful when you’re cooking. Make sure you have all your equipment ready, and space to chop things. Your knives should be as sharp as possible – this sounds the wrong way round but a blunt knife can slip more easily than a sharp one, and a blunt chopping knife is still sharp enough to hurt you! Have heatproof mats to set hot pots down on, and an oven glove to safely take things out of the oven. Also make sure you have lids for your pans ready in case they start spitting hot liquids as your food simmers. Finally, take care in pouring boiling water.

If you are injured and it’s not your fault

You can call our South Derbyshire accident claim solicitors. They are excellent at making accident claims. It could be that your equipment was defective – did you get an electric shock from your blender, or perhaps a knife point actually broke off while you were using it, causing you to slip and cut yourself badly? Perhaps a pan handle simply snapped during normal use, leading to a whole pan of boiling hot soup being poured all over you.

Whatever happened, our South Derbyshire accident claim solicitors are here to help. Just give us a call on 0800 689 0500 and from your mobile 0333 500 0993. It is a free number, and we work on a no win no fee basis.
