    Can I claim compensation for my broken nose?

    There are many injuries that people suffer from and no matter what they are, providing your case meets the basic criteria of making a compensation claim, our solicitor in Stockport will be able to help.

    The 3 compensation criteria

    In order to claim compensation for your broken nose – or any other injury in fact – your case MUST meet all three of the following factors, otherwise your claim will not be eligible.

    Criteria 1: Time

    For all compensation cases, there are deadlines that must be adhered to in order for your claim to be successful. Personal injury law, under which our solicitor in Stockport works, states that for a person to have an eligible claim, they must be staking their claim to compensation within 3 years of the date of the accident. The application of this deadline only differs in two circumstances;

             i.            If the case involves a minor under the age of 18 years

            ii.            A case for industrial disease or illness

    To know more about how the deadline is applied in these cases, phone us on 0800 689 0500.

    Criteria 2: Injuries

    You must have been injured in the accident or catastrophe that occurred but not only that, you must have sought medical advice for your injuries too, from a suitably qualified professional. This could be your own GP or the local accident and emergency department.

    It makes no difference if you had one appointment, or a whole raft of them; the point is you must have sought medical help.

    Your solicitor in Stockport will need to know the details of any appointments, so it pays to keep a diary as well as copies of hospital letters or appointment cards etc. This ensures that any information used in your case is as accurate as possible.

    Criteria 3: The Accident

    In order to have an eligible claim, the third compensation criteria must be that the event or accident that caused you to be injured must not have been your fault.This could be a car accident, being knocked from your motorbikes or bicycle, being knocked over as a pedestrian or any other event in which you were hurt, but played no part in the occurrence itself.
