What should I do if I am in a road accident in Falkirk?
Call the police if necessary – and it probably will be, if you are injured and there is any damage to property such as street furniture. Also call an ambulance if needed.
Get people’s contact details. Obviously, you will need the other driver’s name, address, number, and the name of their insurer – but get witnesses’ contact details as well. Passers-by often see car accidents and will stop to give their account of what happened.
Take photographs. These days, most people have a mobile with a camera that can take reasonably good photos. Photograph the damage to your vehicle and to any street furniture. Your pictures will also capture the road conditions. Later on, take photos of your injuries, too – this will be very helpful to your case.
Should I call Accident Advice Helpline straight after my road accident in Falkirk?
You don’t need to call straight away – make sure you’re safe and well, and you have dealt with the police and your insurance company. But you should call us as soon as you can. You have a time limit of three years from the date of your injury to make a claim, and three years can fly by.
We can be reached on 0800 689 0500 from a landline or 0333 500 0993 from a mobile phone. If you like, you can text “claim365” to 88010.
If you’re not sure whether you are eligible to claim, why not try our 30 second test? This free compensation calculator is on our website and it will give you an estimate of the value of your claim if your case is successful.
What else will I need to do?
You will need to attend one additional medical assessment, which will help your claim to go through.
You will be pleased to know that you probably won’t have to attend court, though. Most claims can be processed via telephone.
