Northampton is a large town and non-metropolitan district which also holds borough status within the ceremonial county of Northamptonshire in central England. As can be inferred from the similarity in names of the entities, the town is in fact the county town of Northamptonshire. The major town lies on the course of the River Nene, and is situated about 67 miles (108 km) north-west of London and around 50 miles (80 km) south-east of Birmingham.

    The History Of Northampton

There is evidence of human habitation in the area now known as Northampton as far back as the Bronze Age but it was during the Middles Ages that the settlement rose to national prominence. This was due to the construction of Northampton Castle, which was an occasional royal residence and regularly hosted the Parliament of England.

Such was the importance of Northampton during that time that the settlement gained its first charter in 1189 from King Richard I. The town did not stay in favour of the British royalty, however, due to the fact that Northampton chose to support the parliamentarians during the English Civil War. This eventually led to King Charles II ordering the destruction of the Northampton town walls and much of the castle, which is why the majority of modern day Northampton dates from after the 16th century.

    Modern Day Northampton

In the present day, with a population of 212,100 recorded in the 2011 census, Northampton is one of the largest urban centres in the United Kingdom without city status and is the most populous non-metropolitan district of England.

What this means is that the town will face many of the same issues which would normally be associated with cities, such as having to deal with an elevated number of accidents and injuries. It is due to this, therefore, that we will now briefly discuss Northampton back injury compensation claims.

    Northampton Back Injury Compensation Claims

In densely populated settlements like Northampton back injury compensation claims are more common due to the elevated accident and injury rate in those settlements. This is the case as in Northampton compensation claims are possible if an individual suffers an injury that was definitively somebody else’s fault, perhaps as a result of a road traffic accident or other similar incident.

If this makes you think that you may be entitled to claim, then you may wish to consider contacting Accident Advice Helpline for assistance.
