Whiplash claims are one of the many types of injury that the Accident Advice Helpline handle in their capacity as accident injury claim specialists.
The Causes of Whiplash
Whiplash is an injury that is usually associated with road traffic accidents, but it can be caused by other incidents too including:
- A Blow to the head sustained while playing a contact sport
- A slip, trip or fall, wherein the head is violently jerked
- Being hit on the head by a heavy object
Most people tend to think of whiplash as something that results from a sudden backward and forward jerk of the head; but it can also be caused by a sideways jerk as well. The movement is somewhat involuntary, being caused through a sudden impact. This sudden movement of the head causes damage to the ligaments and tendons in the neck.
Typical whiplash symptoms include:
- Pain and stiffness in the neck
- Tenderness in the neck muscles
- Pain when moving the neck
Whiplash pain is often not noticed until 6 to 12 hours after the accident or incident, but once the pain materialises it may then get steadily worse over a period of days.
Whiplash often self-heals after several weeks. Once the pain sets in you are advised to try and move your neck as often as possible. Keeping it mobile helps to improve movement, and brings about a speedier recovery. Avoid using a neck brace or collar unless advised otherwise by your GP. Chronic cases of whiplash can last for six months or more. The hospital (if you attend one) or your GP may recommend a course of physiotherapy.
Making a No Win No Fee* in Bornopfield Claim
The UK currently heads the European league table with over 1200 whiplash injury claims being registered every day. Many of them of course are bogus and as a result insurance companies are looking to identify fraudulent claims. That being the case we advise you’ll be required to provide positive medical proof of the injury. Also, be aware of the fact that (a) the cause of the injury must be down to a third party, and (b) the accident must have occurred within the three years immediately preceding the date you launch your no win no fee* in Bornopfield claim.
Valuing Your Claim
