Kent Accident Claim

Kent is a ceremonial and non-metropolitan county of England, found in the far south east corner of the country. The county shares a nominal border with the French department of Pas-de-Calais halfway through the Channel Tunnel, as well as a defined boundary with Essex in the middle of the Thames Estuary.

Due to the plethora of counties which can all be found in the south east of England, Kent also shares borders with Greater London to the North West near the towns of Swanley and Dartford, Surrey to the West near Westerham and East Sussex to the South West near Tunbridge Wells.

Major Settlements Within Kent

The county of Kent is one of the largest of England’s counties by land area and as such it is not surprising to learn that it includes a number of notable settlements. The county town of Kent, and seat of its county council, is that of Maidstone but this is neither the largest nor best known of the counties settlements.

Those accolades are probably reserved for the historic cathedral city of Canterbury which is the only settlement in Kent to hold city status, with Rochester having had its historic city status taken away. Outside of these settlements, many of Kent’s best known towns are found on the coast and include the likes of Chatham, Folkestone, Dover and Margate.

The Population Of Kent

Measuring more than 1,400 square miles in area, Kent is in fact the tenth largest of England’s 48 counties but its level of population exceeds even that. That is the case as the estimated c. 1,731,000 permanent residents of Kent make it the 6th most populous of those 48 counties.

Having such a large population means many things for the county of Kent, but the implication which we will focus on is the fact that it can lead to a comparatively significant number of accidents and injuries. This is notable as it makes it pertinent for residents of the county to learn a little more about Kent accident claim proceedings.

Kent Accident Claim Proceedings

A resident of the so-called ‘Garden of England’ is entitled to make a Kent accident claim if and when they have suffered an injury which was definitively somebody else’s fault, such as one caused by a road traffic accident or a slip, trip or fall in a public place.
