Charmouth overlooks Lyme Bay. In the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries it was a noted resort, whose visitors included novelist Jane Austen who wrote that Charmouth was “a nice place for sitting in unwearied contemplation”. The village is larger now, but still appears placid, nestled at the base of steep hills along the River Char. Stonebarrow Hill is on the east, Black Venn on the west, and Golden Cap, 2.5 miles to the east, rises to 617 feet. The National Trust controls significant portions of the scenic areas around the town.
An injury solicitor in Charmouth can help!
It is an unfortunate fact of life that people get injured due to accidents that are not their fault. This can range from a relatively minor scratch to a life changing injury. An injury solicitor in Charmouth can help people (or their relatives in a fatal case) claim compensation for these injuries and any subsequent loss of earnings.
Reasons to Make a Claim
While we cannot account for every eventuality we can look at some of the more common reasons people make an injury claim.
Road Traffic Accident
Road traffic accidents are all too common and can affect multiple people in just one accident. No matter how you are involved (whether as a pedestrian, a passenger or a driver who was not responsible) if you are injured you may be eligible to make a claim.
Work Related Disease/Injury
This may relate to a one-off injury, such as something falling onto you at work, or a fall due to a slippery surface etc. However it also covers long term disease and illness, such as cancer caused by exposure to asbestos or repetitive strain injury, due to repeated lifting of heavy items without the correct equipment.
This includes any additional suffering caused by inadequate care by your medical team e.g. an incorrect operation being carried out or a vital symptom being missed, leading to further illness.
Slips, Trips or Falls
You may think that if you trip or fall it is your fault for not watching where you were stepping. However if there is an unexpected obstacle in your way or if the pathway has not been adequately maintained, you could be entitled to compensation.
It can be frustrating when items do not work as they should, but a company that produces a product which actually causes injury can be liable to pay compensation. This covers all products, whether it is a toy with a sharp edge, or an electrical item that gives the user an electric shock.
If you have suffered illness due to substandard food you may be entitled to compensation.
Holiday or Sporting Accidents
Even if an accident takes place in another country you can still claim for compensation if someone else was responsible for your injury.
