A claim for an injury sustained in a car accident on a rural road will need the assignment of an Injury lawyer in West Devon

The local district of West Devon is located in the county of Devon in England and a campaign has been made to make people aware of the dangers of rural roads in the counties of Devon and Cornwall. Specifically, it warns of the dangers that come from travelling on roads in country areas. Figures for the previous year have put the number of lives lost in these two counties at 37. This statistic makes it one of the nation’s deadliest areas with road fatalities being almost ten times as high as on urban motorways.

The campaign is called ‘THINK!’ and has been set up as drivers are often not aware of the special risks involved when travelling on rural roads even with around a third of drivers having some type of incident on a rural road. The safety campaign that has been set up by the Department of Transport, has said that 60% of fatalities will happen on country roads in the UK. Supporters of the campaign have said that rural road conditions can change quickly which makes driving more difficult and accidents more likely.

Research from the Department of Transport on rural road incidents has stated that an estimated 42 per cent of drivers have encountered an unexpected hazard on a rural road such as an animal. In addition, around a third of drivers have said they travel too fast while travelling around corners on rural roads.

The research from the campaign is similar to recently published figures on road casualties which states that the most common cause of fatalities or injuries on rural roads is drivers losing control which has come from driving faster than the speed limit. Statistics fro Devon’s roads showed that in 2013, there were 1626 dangerous incidents on rural roads with 226 involving serious injuries and 15 deaths.

If you are injured in a car accident on a rural road then you could make a claim with an Injury lawyer in West Devon from the law firm, Accident Advice Helpline.
