    Injury claims solicitor in Laceby

If you were assaulted, would you be able to claim compensation with an injury claims solicitor in Laceby?

Laceby is a village in north east Lincolnshire. It is just outside the western boundary of Grimsby. In July 1899, Charles Jennings, a butcher from Laceby, was brought up before the Grimsby County Bench charged with grevious bodily harm to his father-in-law, John Thornton, a labourer.

Mr Thornton said that Jennings had married his daughter and they both lived in his house. On July 15th at around midnight Mr Thornton was in bed when he heard a knocking at the door. It was Jennings banging to be let in. Mr Thornton told him to go away. Jennings threatened that if Mr Thornton did not open the door he would smash it in. It seems that Jennings had been away for three days. Mr Thornton eventually let Jennings in and he began swearing and quarrelling with his wife (Mr Thornton’s daughter) who had gone downstairs to see what all the noise was about.

He would kick his insides out

Jennings smashed Mr Thornton in the face with his fist and knocked him down; he then kicked him twice whilst he was lying on the ground. He then continued to bash him on the head, all the time threatening that if he did not get up he would kick his insides out. Jennings claimed that Mr Thornton grabbed him about the neck and would not let go so he had to push him off and then Mr Thornton hit his head on the fender. Make up your own mind as to who you believe.

We should be safe in our own homes, however, so many assaults take place in a domestic situation; that is the bad news. The good news is that if you are a victim of grevious bodily harm, or GBH as it is often referred to, you might be able to claim compensation with an injury claims solicitor in Laceby. Initally, you should contact the police and get medical assistance. Both of these procedures will give you peace of mind, aid you in getting better and help you to process your claim for compensation.
