The village of Kirtlington is located some 10.5 km distance from Bicester in Oxfordshire, England, and lies along an ancient road that is pre-Roman in origin and runs through the village. The road follows the course of the River Cherwell in some parts. According to the Domesday Book of 1086, the village once boasted two water mills on the River Cherwell, a sign of prosperity and early industry.
Kirtlington has good road connections to nearby Chesterton and there is plenty of historic evidence that the village was already in existence in 945 AD. Today, Kirtlington’s main tourist attractions are the Kirtlington Park country house, which dates back to the 18th century and the ancient manor house, which dates back to 1563.
Kirtlington Park’s beautiful parkland was designed by Capability Brown, the favourite landscape gardener for 18th century aristocrats. The 3,000 acre estate and gardens boast lovely views towards the Chiltern Hills. The Kirtlington Park Polo Club is located at the estate’s farm while the country house and parkland often host weddings and corporate events. There’s also a famous polo school that trains the next generation of polo players.
When you attend a prestigious polo school or indeed any riding stables, your instructors will know their stuff – each horse’s temperament and be able to determine, which horse will suit which student. Riding accidents occur far more frequently than reported in the press. Typically, riders expect to fall off now and again during the course of their training. Learning to ride can be a bumpy business until a rider is proficient in the saddle. Hopefully the mishaps won’t be anything too serious.Open Claim Calculator
