"If you've been injured through no fault of your own you could be entitled to compensation. If you're unsure if you could claim, I recommend you call Accident Advice Helpline."

    Expert solicitor in Wirral

In need an expert solicitor in Wirral to assist with your accident claim?

When summer’s over, you notice that the drive to work in the morning seems a little dismal – as does the evening drive home, for that matter. It gets even worse when the clocks go back in autumn, and of course, you also have the rain, sleet, fog, ice and snow to deal with as winter draws ever closer.

This means that you have to think about road safety even more than usual. Visibility is reduced when it’s dark – but it’s also harder to see during the day if the weather’s bad.

An expert solicitor in Wirral is likely to end up with a few more claims on their desk for personal injury sustained in road traffic accidents in the colder, darker months of the year.

What if you get into an accident?

If you’re injured in a road accident that was caused by someone else, you could make a claim through an accident solicitor in Wirral.

Your immediate concern, of course, will be getting medical attention because of your injuries, and dealing with the police (if necessary) and your insurance company, with respect to the usual motor insurance claim.

But once you’ve done that, you might find that it’s a good idea to claim compensation – taking time off work could lose you wages, and you could lose even more money through all the expenses on top of your usual household bills. Prescription charges, home help fees, and childminding fees soon mount up.

    Preventing accidents on the road

You don’t want to be the reason behind someone claiming compensation, either. We are often asked, at Accident Advice Helpline, about how to prevent road traffic accidents in winter.

Our advice is to address two main factors: yourself and your vehicle. You shouldn’t drive if you’ve been drinking, or if you’re tired or stressed. You need to be alert and ready to respond to anything, especially if you’re on the motorway at night when it’s raining.

As for your car, make sure it’s in tip-top condition. Perform checks regularly:

    • Lights – are they all working and clean?
    • Windows – can you see through them all? Are the wiper blades clean?
    • Fluids – are oil, antifreeze and washer fluid all at the correct levels?
    • Brakes – do they work? Do they need replacement pads or discs?
    • Tyres – do they have sufficient tread? Replace them before they reach the legal limit!
