How did your accident happen?
I was driving to work and was waiting at a roundabout. I checked to my right and the way was clear for me to continue with my journey. I started driving when all of a sudden a vehicle travelling at high speed pulled out in front of me and I collided with the vehicle. I could see the driver was on his phone. I was jolted forward with force; luckily I had my seat belt on.
What happened then?
At first, I was in shock and unable to move. Thankfully a few cars had stopped and a couple of people came to help me out of the car.
Someone who had seen the accident had called the police and an ambulance. The police took down my recollection events of the accident and gave me a report number. Witnesses to the accident also offered me their contact details and said they had seen it was not my fault and that the other driver was driving recklessly.
I was then seen by a paramedic and taken to hospital.
What injuries did you suffer as a result of the car accident?
I had severe whiplash, bruising from where the seat belt had rubbed on my chest. I was also feeling very anxious.
Did you take the details of the other driver?
I did not speak to the driver but the police provided me with the name, registration, car make and address of the driver.
Were you able to get your car repaired?
After contacting my insurance company, they informed me that the car was a write off. Luckily, they said as I was not at fault they could claim on the other driver’s policy.
When did you first think to contact expert injury lawyers in Lynton?
About 6 months after my accident, I was still in quite a bit of pain. I still had not regained full mobility in my neck and suffering from migraines. I was also suffering with pain and weakness in my right arm due to nerve damage. A friend of mine the previous year had an accident at work and had taken legal action with the help of expert injury lawyers in Lynton as the accident was not her fault. She suggested that I contact Accident Advice Helpline, so that expert injury lawyers in Lynton could help me with a claim for compensation. I called them and was really impressed with their friendly service.
How did expert injury lawyers in Lynton help you?
They said I had a strong case because of the witness and police reports. I had to complete a medical assessment, but then most of the claim was handled over the phone. After 5 months, my claim was successfully settled.
