Compensation for Scar on my Two Year Old’s Forehead

Can I claim compensation for a scar on my two year old’s forehead?

If your child suffered an injury in an accident that wasn’t caused by your child or yourself and that accident happened within the last 3 years, you can claim compensation with the help of an accident solicitor. Because the actual claimant is not an adult and too young to testify at court the 3-year rule is sometimes extended to allow young claimants to reach an age where they can respond to questions about their accident.

You will have to prove with the help of an accident solicitor that the accident was the result of somebody else’s negligence.

    For example:

You were walking in the park where sign-posting clearly states that all dogs must be kept on a leash, yet when you were strolling up to the children’s playground a dog appears and attacks your child. The animal’s owner is nowhere to be seen and your child is badly mauled before you have a chance to drag off the dog and take your child to safety in the playground’s enclosure. When the dog’s owner appears and angry scene ensues because there were plenty of witnesses to the attack. It could have been anybody’s child that got attacked by an aggressive dog that should have been kept on a leash and should have worn a muzzle.

Thankfully, your child’s injuries turn out to be far less severe than you thought, but your child is left with an ugly scar. Yes, you can claim compensation from the negligent owner of the dog.

How long before I receive compensation for scar on my two year old’s forehead?

Every claim is different and it will depend on a number of factors on how quickly compensation pay-outs are made. The negligent party is permitted to take up to 3 months before they must respond to your accident solicitor’s initial letter outlining the circumstances that lead up to the accident and why you think the other party was responsible. Only when the negligent party has accepted liability can your claim be settled out of court.
