Your questions, answered
When it comes to the possibility of claiming compensation, many people have questions about the process. We have collated some of these frequently asked questions – and our answers to them!
- Is my accident bad enough?
Initially, people assume that only certain kinds of accidents are covered under compensation claims, such as being hurt in a car accident.
This is not the case. Under personal injury law, the accident in which you were hurt, such as a trip or fall, should not have been your fault. For a moment, think about why you fell.
Was there something in the way? Were you warned there were hazards and so on? If not, you may may be able to claim compensation for fall injuries in Preston.
- What kinds of injuries can be claimed for?
Injuries need to have symptoms. You may have fallen, leaving a bruise on your leg. But, does it have symptoms?
Is it so painful, for example, that you needed to seek the help of your doctor or another medical professional? In other words, your injuries needed to have affected you in some way.
This does not mean, however, that only injuries that are life-changing or life-threatening can be claimed for. You may have fallen and broken your wrist. This injury will need medical treatment but, once healed, should not present too many issues in the future (depending on the type of break).
- I fell last week. Is it too early to claim?
No, you can start your claim as soon as you feel able to. There is a three-year deadline, however, so make sure you don’t leave it too late.
The deadline starts counting down from the time it can be assumed that your injuries were caused by the accident. In most cases, this is from the date of the accident but, there are cases where this varies so it pays to check.
- Will it cost more money to claim than the money I could win in compensation?
Not with Accident Advice Helpline. We take on all cases on a no win, no fee basis meaning you don’t pay us any money upfront and you will only pay a fee if your claim is successful.
