We all know someone who has suffered an accident. Sometimes it has been ourselves, sometimes it is someone we know: occasionally they are just unpleasant things we have to witness as we pass. Motoring accidents are without doubt the worst kind of accidents to be involved in and they are also the ones most likely to lead to a compensation claim. If you have suffered a motoring accident and need to make a compensation claim Pudsey may not have too many legal firms for you to choose from; but before you approach one can you confirm that your accident has been reported correctly and that everything is in place for your claim to begin?
Compensation Claim in Pudsey- Get it right
The law states that any motoring accident must be reported within twenty four hours at the nearest police station. They will need the names and details of all parties involved, where it occurred and when. Most road traffic accidents are attended by emergency services so the police will already have made a report. The police incident report number will be needed not only for your insurance details but for any future compensation claim you may need to make. The following should also be obtained by someone at the time of the accident.
- The insurance details of both parties
- The registration numbers of all involved vehicles
- A photograph of the damage to the vehicle.
Sometimes the police take these matters out of our hands, and will be recording all these details as part of their report, but never leave the scene of an accident without knowing the basic details of the other parties involved if the police do not attend. If you cannot move your car then you need to call the police immediately.
Even if you feel fine after your accident the chances are that you probably aren’t: bruising takes some time to appear and deep tissue bruising may not show its head for days. Get someone to take you to the hospital or to the nearest doctor’s surgery as soon as possible after the accident and be thoroughly checked over. Shock can also be delayed and you may find yourself needing to see someone some days afterwards. All these things are vitally important if you wish to make a compensation claim. Pudsey is a market town and as such is a busy place. The accurate recording of accidents is important as no one is likely to remember what has happened a few weeks down the line.
