What is a Christmas market injury?

A Christmas market injury can take a range of different forms. In fact, it can relate to almost anything that could plausibly occur whilst visiting or browsing a festive fair or market. This can include road accidents, injuries sustained whilst on organised excursions, and accidents relating to the poor maintenance of stalls, displays and other supporting structures.

For a public space to be authorised for commercial use, it must be safe, and continue to be safe throughout its lifespan. As such, it is the legal duty of the managers of the market and the market stall owners and operators to keep displays secure and make sure that public areas do not pose a risk.
