A hit-and-run car accident in Sandwell can lead to a compensation claim

The borough of Sandwell is found in the West Midlands area in England and in May it was the site of a car accident in Sandwell that involved a young boy from Willenhall who sustained serious injuries. The boy, Jake Hancox, involved in the accident was hit and knocked to the ground by a vehicle when he was walking on a pedestrian crossing on Lichfield Road. The driver of the car sped off without stopping and the mother of the injured boy has called for the driver to hand themselves in to the police. Jake had to have four operations for his injuries from the hit-and-run incident and these injuries included a broken foot and skin graft.

The tragic incident occurred on May 2 after Jake and his brother had been playing football on the land located behind The Square. After they had finished and went to head home via the pedestrian crossing, Jake walked across after the lights turned red and was hit by a car. He has said that the wheel of the car went over his foot and afterwards, it was covered in blood. Onlookers assisted Jake in receiving medical treatment by rushing him to the New Cross Hospital quickly after the car accident in Sandwell. Jake had two operations on his foot at this hospital and was afterwards transferred to the Birmingham Children’s Hospital to have two skin grafts.

The West Midlands Police have appealed to the public to contact them if they have any information about the driver who hit Jake in order to find the driver so they can be subject to the relevant charges for such an incident. The road traffic collision investigation unit is currently completing their investigation but have been unable to identify the driver as yet, they do believe from witness information that the driver ‘s vehicle was a Ford Focus that had a dark colour.
