What is the average payout for whiplash?

Whiplash is a type of neck injury resulting from a sudden and forceful movement of the head. It typically causes neck pain and stiffness, headaches, lower back pain, dizziness and difficulty sleeping. These symptoms may become apparent very quickly or may take a few days to develop.

Can I claim compensation for whiplash?

If you have recently been in an accident and suffered whiplash as a result of someone else’s actions, you may be entitled to compensation. Whiplash compensation is broken down into two main areas: general damages, which is based on the seriousness of your injury and the effect it has had on your life, and special damages, which is based on out-of-pocket expenses such as travel expenses, lost earnings, medical treatment charges, hospital parking fees and nursing care costs. The total of both of these amounts comprises your overall compensation settlement.

What is the average payout for whiplash injuries associated with minor pain and suffering?

The average payout for whiplash injuries associated with minor pain and suffering that resolves itself within a few weeks to a year is £875 to £2,750. If the pain and suffering lasts for up to two years, the average payout is £2,750 to £5,000.

What is the average payout for whiplash injuries associated with moderate pain and suffering?

The average payout for whiplash injuries associated with moderate pain and suffering and a risk of further trauma is £5,000 to £8,750.

What is the average payout for whiplash injuries associated with severe pain and suffering?

The average payout for whiplash injuries associated with severe pain and suffering and markedly impaired neck functioning is £16,500 to £86,000.
