The steps that you take after you have been in an accident can make a difference on whether or not you are able to successfully make a claim against the person who hit you. Below are three tips that you should use when you have been in an accident.

Contact the police & ICBC after an automobile accident

Telling the police about the traffic accident is really important and you should do it as soon as you can. You’re going to get a file number from them that you can refer to in the future. You also have to tell ICBC about your accident. They are also going to give you a file number and make an appointment for you to talk with an adjuster.

Meet with your solicitor and claims adjuster after an automobile accident

Talking with your solicitor is a good idea before you meet with your adjuster. This is going to go a long way with protecting interests that you have. If you can, have your solicitor go with you to meet the claims adjuster. This way not only will all the information that is given to the adjuster will be accurate, but your solicitor are also is going to have information that’s firsthand for creating your case later on.
