When people think about accident pedestrian claims, the thing that comes to mind usually is someone being hit by a car when they are crossing the street. But there are other types of pedestrian claims that people make when they’ve been injured as a pedestrian. Here are three top types of things that lead to pedestrian claims.
Types of accident pedestrian claims: 1 – motor vehicle versus pedestrian
The first type of accident claims that pedestrians make are the motor vehicles versus pedestrian claims. This is when a pedestrian is hit by a motor vehicle and sustains injuries. These kinds of accidents happen in all types of weather and can happen without warning. Sometimes it happens because the motor vehicle goes through a stop sign or stop light, sometimes it happens because the pedestrian comes out between two parked cars and steps out into traffic. The severity of these accidents can range from minor up to and including death.
Types of accident pedestrian claims: 2 – non motor vehicle versus pedestrian
The second type of claim that many pedestrians make is when they are injured by someone in a non-motor vehicle. This could be a bicycle or even someone who is driving a horse and buggy. Although the injuries from these kinds of accidents don’t tend to be as bad as the ones that involve motor vehicles, they can still be quite bad and can put the pedestrian out of work for a long time if the person has been injured badly enough.
Types of accident pedestrian claims: 3 – pedestrian injured due to hazardous street or pavement
The third type of claim that a lot of pedestrians make is when they have been injured due to a hazard on the street or pavement. This often is because of bad weather such as ice or snow but it also can happen because the pavement or road wasn’t looked after. Sometimes pavements get cracks in them that no one bothers to repair. As a result, people fall and hurt themselves on the pavement, leading to injury claims that could have been avoided if maintenance had been done on the pavement or road that they were walking on.
