    Accident and personal injury insurance

It is often a widespread myth that you have to have accident and personal injury insurance in order to make a claim for compensation. While it’s obviously a wise move to have personal insurance, particularly if it covers injury, damage or losses to others, if you don’t have it and you’re a victim of an injury incident which was no fault of your own, don’t panic.

    Accident and personal injury insurance

In fact, it could even work to your advantage! Compensation claims work differently to accident and personal injury insurance. There’s a sliding scale applied which is linked to the severity of injury or injuries, but in all cases a potential claimant will need to satisfy the following criteria:

    • That the accident was a result of someone else’s negligence
    • Medical attention was needed for your injuries
    • It must have happened within the past three years

    To make a claim

These are the prime questions asked in a 30-second test when anyone rings Accident Advice Helpline’s freephone number to make a claim. Our lines are open 24/7 and there’s no obligation to go further after hearing what we have to say if you’re in any way dissatisfied. What we can do of course with your permission is to connect you with one of our no win no fee* solicitors in the UK. Our lawyers are spread throughout the UK, so there’s bound to be one close to where you live.

Accident and injury insurance is available for personal security or for travel, for business or pleasure. It’s always advisable when taking out policies to read the small print. Car insurance often catches people out because they often believe they’re fully covered when they’re not. Such policies, by law, major on covering third parties in the event of a road accident but many drivers make the mistake in thinking they’re also fully covered in all circumstances, but a closer examination of the policy often shows that they are not.

    Victim of an injury accident

Whilst it’s always a personal choice in taking out accident and injury insurance policies to cover the basics of their needs, a victim of an injury accident is treated very differently in compensation claims law. You were involved in a situation which was not your fault and suffered harm as a result. You’re therefore protected by and entitled to compensation for your injuries by these special civil laws. A specialist law firm such Accident Advice Helpline will guide you through the claims process, offering expert advice throughout. We provide updates on the phone as to progress with your case and in many scenarios settlement can be made out of court, particular where minor injuries are concerned.
