The workplace injury procedure for compensation

Injuries are painful, let’s get that clear. Even minor injuries can cause problems, and major ones can change lives and even threaten the ongoing health of the person concerned. If someone is hurt while doing their job, they may well ask what the workplace injury procedure is if they want to be compensated for what happened to them.

Being injured at work is upsetting and frightening, and can give you much to worry about for the future. Some injuries can heal in time, but other more serious ones can change your entire life. You may already know this, but regardless of whether you have recovered or not, you may be considering the prospect of claiming compensation.

What is the workplace injury procedure?

Firstly, any accident you have at work – however minor or serious – should be recorded in the accident book. You should ensure you get proper medical attention as well. Sometimes a first-aider will be ideal for this, but in other cases you might require hospital attention. It depends on the nature of your injuries.

Getting a proper record of your injuries, along with appropriate treatment, either from a GP or hospital staff will help you make a case for your claim if you do decide to go ahead with one. This is because it provides proof that a medical expert has seen you, diagnosed you and treated you accordingly. This will help later on and can form an essential part of any case you end up making.
