Mrs C was at home on the day of the accident. She decided to take something round to her neighbour. When she was returning to her flat she walked across the grass and fell into the drain, as the manhole cover was not secure.
Mrs C and her husband were extremely distressed by this as the defective drain had been reported at a general meeting 12 months ago to a maintenance worker responsible for maintaining the grounds.
Mrs C wanted to find out about her legal right to compensation so she was advised to call Accident Advice Helpline. They were able to help Mrs C receive £7399.98 on a 100% No Win No Fee basis. The defendants (the maintenance company) were found to be liable for her accident, as they had failed to maintain the grounds of her flat to a safe standard and therefore could have prevented the accident.
