The NEBOSH Certificate in Fire Safety and Risk Management Conversion Course

A course for managers and supervisors of any workplace, the NEBOSH Certificate in Fire Safety and Risk Management Conversion Course teaches fire safety and personal safety in the event of a fire. This course is designed for those who have completed the Management of Safety and Health component of the NEBOSH National General Certificate within the last five years.

Those who pass the course will be able to conduct fire risk assessments in any workplace, but this is particularly important in the construction industry where there is likely to be a large amount of combustible materials present. Managers will learn about the legislation relating to fire safety and the procedures involved in investigating fires in the work environment.

Also taught as part of the certificate is how to identify causes of fire and how to control these hazards. Managers will receive advice on how to prevent the spread of fires within workplace buildings and how to evacuate in the event of a fire during a working day. Every manager who attends the course is expected to put the training in practice on a daily basis but, unfortunately, accidents still have the potential to happen.

    Potential accidents caused by fire

Fire-related accidents can cause serious injuries to those involved therefore fire safety in the workplace should be near the top of employers’ risk assessment list. Smoke inhalation or damage to the lungs from fire can cause long-term damage to health if employees are unaware of the fire evacuation procedures.

Burns can be extensive if anyone is trapped in a fire or if someone untrained tries to tackle a fire by themselves. Those who undertake this course should put it into practice on a daily basis to avoid accidents like this. However, if someone causes a fire-related accident and you have evidence of negligence, then you could make a claim for compensation.
