Help with RSI claims

Many workers here in the UK have a problem with some form of RSI (Repetitive Strain Injury) and giving them help with RSI claims is something that we here at Accident Advice Helpline can do.

The prevalence of RSI in the workplace

Known officially by the HSE (Health and Safety Executive) as ULDs (Upper Limb Disorders), RSIs account for over 4.7 million days being lost every year. In fact more than 448,000 workers currently suffer from some form of repetitive strain injury. Many conditions relate to back injuries and are more prevalent in jobs involving manual labour, such as material handling.

But there is also a high prevalence in clerical jobs too, such as working with computers. Research indicates that 1 out every 3 people who have to use a computer regularly, report they are experiencing the early signs of RSI that could lead to conditions such as carpal tunnel syndrome.

It is incumbent on employers to ensure their workforce is fully aware any risks of RSI that may be associated with carrying out their duties. Furthermore, employers are bound to carry out risk assessments, and where a hazard is identified to mitigate by either changing procedures and/or issuing appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment). If your employer fails to execute their duty of care towards you, and as a result, you sustain an RSI, you are legally entitled to raise a claim for compensation, and Accident Advice Helpline can show you how.

Obtaining medical proof

If you believe you are suffering from some form of repetitive strain injury, you should go and see your doctor to obtain an official diagnosis. With medical proof in hand, we can then give you help with RSI claims.
