"If you've been injured through no fault of your own you could be entitled to compensation. If you're unsure if you could claim, I recommend you call Accident Advice Helpline."

    Radiotherapist accident counselling

A radiotherapist who suffered a traumatic injury in a work-related accident, could benefit from receiving radiotherapist accident counselling.

If you have been hurt while working as a radiotherapist due to someone else’s negligence, then you could be off from work on a long-term basis. If this is the case then you may find that you are not on full sick pay for all of this time and you could be having more problems than just your physical injuries. Your doctor may recommend counselling to help you to come to terms with what has happened and to help you deal with your change in circumstances. However, will your doctor be able to make sure that you have your counselling as soon as possible?

The answer to this is probably no. In an ideal world your doctor would be able to refer you for counselling and you could have an appointment the next day, but this is not an ideal world. You may find that due to budget cuts in your area that you are on a waiting list. This could mean that it will be weeks before you even find out when your appointment is. If you are experiencing anxiety attacks, depression or flashbacks, a delay in seeing a counsellor is not acceptable.

    What happens then?

You have two choices in this situation. You can either wait for the NHS appointment and prolong your recovery, or you can make your own arrangements. Unless you have a counsellor friend who is willing to treat you free you will need to see a private counsellor and fund the sessions yourself.

This is something that could be difficult if you are struggling financially already. But if you consider making a personal injury claim this could go some way to resolving any financial issues that you are having and help you to claim back the cost of your radiotherapist accident counselling. To find out more about making a claim all you have to do is pick up the phone and call Accident Advice Helpline.
