Postal worker awarded half a million in accident injury claim

A postal worker who had his legs crushed in a freak accident whilst on his round has been awarded over £500,000 in compensation after making an accident injury claim.

Postal worker, Andrew Hutchinson, has been awarded a total of £550,000 in compensation after being involved in a crippling accident last year, reports the Hunts Post.

The Parcelforce worker was leaning inside his van to pick up some parcels whilst on his round in Peterborough in November last year when a vehicle collided with him and his van from behind, crushing both his legs and leaving him in a critical state.

Eynesbury based Hutchinson was then rushed to Addenbrook hospital where he underwent several surgical operations to try and repair his broken legs. He remained in hospital for three months and had metal pins inserted to try and strengthen the broken bones.

The victim worked with his trade union to make an accident injury claim, not just for the physical pain and suffering he has endured, but also for the emotional trauma he has been through. He was awarded his injury compensation earlier this month and has now returned home to be with his wife, Rosie.

He and his wife, who is also disabled, plan to use the compensation claims money to move from their second floor flat into a specially adapted property nearby.

Leading UK accident injury claim company, Accident Advice Helpline, commented,

“It really is tragic when we hear about major accidents such as these. However, hopefully the money Mr Hutchinson has been awarded as part of his accident injury claim will help him to adapt to his situation and let him live a normal life again. We wish him a speedy recovery.”
