The NHS has launched a brand new campaign called Sign up to Safety. This campaign is designed to support and listen to staff as well as patients and carers. The aim is to improve patient safety and there are several pledges in place that form part of the campaign.
The main idea is to make sure safety is always first. Some accidents and incidents that occur in the NHS are perfectly avoidable. The Sign up to Safety campaign is going to try and reduce the number of incidents involving avoidable harm by half over the next three years. It is hoped this will save 6,000 lives over that period of time – a goal that would be worthy of reaching.
Other areas that are being targeted in this campaign include the desire to be honest with regard to patient care and safety and to support those who require it. As you can see all these areas are straightforward but they are being focused on in the hope that the NHS can provide a stronger system with the help of all those concerned. If the results are as good as it is hoped, it could be a big success.
Could you make a claim for compensation as a result of medical negligence or error?
When we come into contact with the medical profession we usually do so because we need care or advice concerning a medical issue. As such we expect to be given professional services and advice, and if the standards fall short we have a right to know what happened.
In some cases an incident or failure to provide a good service could be someone else’s fault. If medical negligence of any kind takes place it is advisable to get information from a professional who deals with these cases.
