    Manufacturing accident claim

    Under UK law, your employer is required to take all reasonable steps to ensure that they keep you, the employee safe at work. If your employer has ignored this responsibility and you have suffered as a result, you may be entitled to make a manufacturing accident claim. Here at Accident Advice Helpline, we can assist you in making a compensation claim if you have been the victim of a manufacturing accident which was not your fault.

    The manufacturing industry in the UK

    The manufacturing sector in the UK covers a wide range of industries. It is estimated that 10% of the British workforce is involved in the sector, although manufacturing accidents account for approximately 16% of the total number of workplace injuries reported in the country in the past year, and a whopping 25% of all workplace fatalities.

    The latest statistics revealed by the Health and Safety Executive show that despite efforts to reduce manufacturing accidents, the past year still saw a large number reported:

    • More than 4,500 major injuries were reported;
    • In total, 19,500 injuries were reported that kept workers away from work for three days or longer;
    • Contact with moving machinery accounted for 15% of reported major injuries;
    • Food manufacturing had almost twice as many injury reports as the manufacturing industry as a whole; and
    • Past exposures in the manufacturing sector accounted for about 2,000 occupational cancer deaths.
