Making your house an accident free zone for all

They say home is where the heart is and so it’s no surprise we spend a lot of time in it. But, there are many different hazards in the home which you may not consider can cause serious injuries in the home for any ages. So how do you make it safe for all?  Accident Advice Helpline looks into this.

If there is one thing I can do to make the home an accident free zone what would it be?

This is quite a simple one. The most important thing you can do to ensure that the home is an accident free zone or at least to prevent accidents in the home would be to keep it tidy. It seems quite obvious, but one of the easiest things you can do to ensure all are kept safe from slips, trips and falls is to make sure there is nothing left on the floor to trip over. If you make sure the floor is clean and tidy, slips, trips and falls will be reduced greatly.

What else can I do to make my house an accident free zone for all?

Make sure all appliances, electrical items and fittings are kept up to date and in good repair. This will help prevent any injury in the home caused by faulty appliances. However, in some cases, if an appliance is new and faulty and causes harm to someone then you may be able to make a faulty appliance claim.

But, what happens if a serious accident in the home occurs which was not my fault?

If this happens then do not panic because help is at hand. Accident Advice Helpline can help find out whether you could make an accident claim and will help you every step of the way making the process as simple and calm as possible plus many clients don’t even need to go to court to settle their claim.

So, if you have had an accident in the home or outside, within the last three years you may be entitled to compensation. Use the 30 second compensation calculator to find out if you could claim.
