Making accident claims against your friends

Accident claims take all shapes and sizes – it could be a car accident, slip, trip or fall or accident at work – among many others. But what if the accident happened due to the fault of one of your friends. Would you claim and could you make an accident claim?

So you have had an accident at work which was your friend’s fault, what now?

This accident at work injury could be anything from a box left lying about to a spillage not cleared up or clearly marked. Perhaps you work for your friend or it was your friend who unintentionally caused the accident. Either way if you decide to make an accident at work claim you will be making it against your own friend. Could you do it?

What could be the implications of an accident claim against your friend?

The main implication is that it may well seriously affect your relationship. This claim may well mean him or her having to go to court and talk about the mistake they may have made causing your accident in front of many people. It is understandable that your friendship may well suffer so you need to consider what means more to you and just how special your friendship is before making the accident at work claim.

But, if your friend made a mistake which lead to you suffering an accident at work injury then the claim doesn’t have to be personal. The claim is about getting compensation for your injury as you may have had to take time off work which you may not be fully compensated for.

So, if you do have an accident at work which your friend may or may not be at fault for then you can contact Accident Advice Helpline who can give you advice on what your best options are and make the process of claiming as stress free and easy as possible.
