    Legionnaires’ disease accident claim

Accident Advice Helpline can help you with your Legionnaires’ disease accident claim. Call us today to find out how much you may be entitled to claim. In the past, high costs with no guarantee of success meant that most people would be unlikely to make a personal injury claim, regardless of much their accident had cost them originally.

Here at Accident Advice Helpline we believe that everyone, no matter what their financial circumstances, should be entitled to compensation if they suffer an illness or injury that was caused by the negligence of someone else. For many years, our expert solicitors have been working on a no win no fee* basis so that people like you can get the compensation that they deserve.

    Legionnaires’ disease

Legionnaires’ disease is a serious form of pneumonia caused by inhaling droplets of water contaminated by Legionella bacteria. It is commonly caught from poorly maintained water systems such as jacuzzis, showers and air conditioning systems. Symptoms normally start two to 19 days after exposure and may start mildly with a headache and muscle pain.

As the disease progresses, the patient may have a high temperature, chills, chest pain and a cough. Normally, if antibiotic treatment is started promptly the patient fully recovers, although some people are left with longer-term health problems such as fatigue, muscle weakness and respiratory problems. If left untreated, Legionnaires’ disease can be fatal.

    What to do

If you suspect that you have Legionnaires’ disease, you must seek medical attention as soon as possible. If others are also infected, then this will help the authorities to pinpoint the source of the infection and find out who may be responsible. Medical records of your illness will also be important evidence when making a compensation claim.

Keep records of any costs that you incur as a result of your illness, which may include transport to medical appointments, treatment costs and times when you are unable to work. If possible, find out how many others were infected with Legionnaires’ disease. Successful claims have been made on behalf of several people infected in the same outbreak.

Call our free 24-hour helpline on 0800 689 0500 from your landline or 0333 500 0993 from your mobile. Our helpful, friendly advisors will be able to tell you if you are entitled to compensation and how much you may be able to claim. Our expert solicitors are committed to making the claims process as easy as possible for you and we understand that you may still be recovering from this disease. If possible, they will hold consultations by phone so that you do not have to travel, and may be able to settle your claim without you appearing in court. Because they work on a no win no fee* basis, there will be no further upfront costs for you to worry about.

Claims must be made within three years of the Legionnaires’ disease outbreak. Do not delay — pick up the phone and call us today. The sooner we can start working on your case, the sooner you will receive your compensation.
