Some holiday destinations immediately spring to mind when you think about Europe. However you are unlikely to think of Ukraine as one of them. This is a shame because it has a lot to offer, and it is getting more popular with holidaymakers all the time.
From resorts in Crimea to the wonders of the Carpathian Mountains, you will never run out of things to do and places to go while you are on holiday in Ukraine. You can also take the opportunity to visit Kiev (also referred to as Kyiv) which is perhaps the best known city since it is the capital of Ukraine itself.
From wet floors to food poisoning
While you don’t like to think of anything going wrong on your dream holiday in Ukraine, you may end up suffering because of the lack of service or due care and attention provided. In some cases you may experience ill health, perhaps because the hotel you are staying in does not provide properly cooked or prepared food. If the accommodation is poorly cleaned this could also create problems.
In each case your holiday would be ruined and there would be nothing you could do about it. It is unfortunate and unacceptable to book a holiday – which may cost you a significant amount – only to find your tour operator has not provided you with a proper hotel or shirked its duties in some other way.
If you find this is the case you should seek proper advice when you return home. In the meantime, gather as much evidence as you possibly can. This might involve taking pictures and also alerting those in charge at the hotel (for example) as to what has occurred.
Accident Advice Helpline can assist you once you are back in the UK
The Package Travel Regulations provide you with the protection you need to ensure you are properly covered when you travel abroad, in case something like this happens.
The regulations ensure that if you experience an accident abroad that occurs because of the negligence of the tour operator you booked with, you can make a claim. This also covers negligence by the employees who were enlisted to provide services in accordance with the holiday provided by the tour operator.
