Horse and vehicle collision leaves rider hurt

Horse and vehicle collision leaves rider hurt

Claire Macmanomy was involved in a collision with a skip lorry whilst she was riding her horse in Gospel End Village. The 41-year-old suffered from severe bruising to the ribs and three broken vertebrae as a result of this accident. The driver of the skip lorry failed to stop and was subsequently found guilty of failing to report an accident within 24 hours. He was fined £255 and received five points on his license. Claire is furious at what she considers to be a far too lenient punishment for this serious crime. She spent one month in hospital recovering from the injuries and believes that Mr Guest, the driver, deserves further prosecution. Mrs Macmanomy is seeking compensation and has also launched a campaign to help raise road awareness with regards to horse riding. Fortunately, the horse that she was riding at the time of the accident has since made a full recovery, but the horse’s owner, Kay Hill-Sauce is still in shock. She was walking alongside her horse at the time of the accident and is unable to ride a horse due to the post-traumatic stress that she is experiencing.
