    Compensation for work head injuries

Workplace injuries in the UK account for over 22 million sick days in a single year. This is a frighteningly high statistic and many of these accidents lead to financial compensation claims. Head injuries make up a substantial part of those figures and they cover a myriad of accident-related issues. If you have suffered from a head injury in the workplace, please call us at Accident Advice Helpline for some quick and confidential advice regarding your possible financial compensation claim.

    Head injuries explained

A head injury can range from a tiny bump on your forehead to a life-threatening brain trauma. You can’t take any type of head injury lightly as they can often lead to something far more sinister. Your employer has a legal duty of care to follow regarding his/her employees. If these guidelines are not adhered to, workplace injuries often follow as a result. The most common type of work-related head injury is probably from motor vehicle accidents. Concussion, cerebral contusion and scalp lacerations are the most common type of workplace head injuries.

    How can they be avoided?

Of course, accidents will always happen, that is a part of life, but many of these could have been avoided if correct measures and procedures were put in place. If you drive for a living, always wear a seatbelt and pay due care and attention to the other vehicles on the road. If you work in a factory or on a construction site, ensure that you always follow the correct health and safety procedures and wear appropriate safety clothing. If you ever feel vulnerable in the workplace, you should speak to your employer immediately. If they fail to provide a safe place for their employees to work, accidents will inevitably result.
