Food poisoning is not pleasant, no matter how you come to get it. It can lead to unpleasant symptoms that may last for several days, and when these occur you could end up feeling very ill indeed. It is all the more frustrating if you realise that unsanitary conditions may have led to your illness.
While the vast majority of outlets offering food of various kinds are clean and offer an excellent service, unsanitary conditions have been found in a small minority. When this occurs there is the potential for illness to occur, and for a subsequent compensation claim to be lodged as a result. Some people do opt to go for a claim, since it can help them get over what may have been a nasty experience.
How do these conditions lead to a potential increase in the food poisoning risk?
In some cases people end up falling ill because the food they have eaten has not been cooked properly, or has not been kept at the appropriate temperature. Even something as innocent as a salad could potentially pose problems, because it may have been prepared on the same board as raw chicken for example.
This is just one example of a problem with conditions that Accident Advice Helpline has dealt with. There are many others, such as unclean surfaces being used for food preparation. In other isolated cases mould may have been found growing in various places including microwaves. As you can see, this does pose a potential risk.
Eating in safe conditions
For the most part we are safe when eating out or getting something from a takeaway. Very few of them will ever be discovered to have conditions that are well below the standards required and expected. For example very few will have poor conditions such as paint or even plaster coming off the walls and mould growing all over the place. The presence of mice and rats is also very rare, but it does potentially happen.
