    Company raises money for charity and improves safe working conditions

    Staff at engineering company OGN Group in Wallsend take part in a Safety Incentive Scheme, which ensures staff are rewarded for safe working practices. Now staff have donated over £5,000 of funds from the scheme to various charities including Hartlepool and District Hospice, Great North Children’s Hospital in Newcastle and South Shields youngster Ewan Barry. 14 year old Ewan suffers from Friedrich’s Ataxia, a progressive condition which damages the nervous system. The donations will help provide Ewan with multi-sensory equipment.

    The safety scheme, run by OGN in conjunction with their client Talisman Sinopec Energy UK Limited, ensures staff remain motivated to maintain safe working conditions. The Chief Executive Officer for OGN, David Edwards, commented, “The opportunity to select the causes that receive the funds is also a great motivator and we always get plenty of suggestions for recipients. It’s great to hear how the funds raised from the Safety Incentive Scheme will make a difference and we look forward to helping many more causes and individuals in the future.”

    The safety scheme helps to reduce accidents at work though safe working conditions, which in turn reduces the number of claims for workplace accident compensation – that can only be good news for employers!
