How to claim forklift accident compensation

Forklifts are a great way to move pallets and heavy deliveries from A to B and they are really useful in warehouse environments – but they are not without their dangers, and they are responsible for a large number of fatalities and serious injuries in warehouses year after year. In fact, one worker in the UK is killed every six weeks in a forklift accident at work.

That’s not to say that if you operate a forklift truck you will definitely be injured – it’s vital that employers take steps to keep their staff safe at work and do everything they can to minimise the risk of accidents occurring. But if you’ve been injured and feel your employer is at fault, why not get in touch with Accident Advice Helpline to see if you could claim forklift accident compensation on a 100% no win, no fee* basis?

    Heavy and deadly

Because they are so heavy, forklifts can also be deadly in the wrong hands. Nobody without the correct training should be allowed to operate a forklift, as it’s not only the driver who could be injured in an accident – anybody in the vicinity could also be left injured or worse, killed. But it’s also important that employers maintain their forklifts to a safe standard, as a brake or gear malfunction could cause a collision that could lead to serious injuries such as crush injuries, broken bones and head injuries.

If a forklift topples over – for example whilst being used on a steep slope or other unsuitable surface – it might be that the operator has not received proper training. As a result, serious crush injuries could be sustained that could affect your ability to return to work. In some cases you could end up having a limb amputated or suffer a spinal injury that leaves you confined to a wheelchair. All because of an accident that wasn’t your fault.
