Canadian construction worker suffers fatal work injury

A man has died after suffering a fatal work injury on a construction site in Vaughan, Canada.

The unnamed man was apparently struck by a 400-kilogram metal girder when it became dislodged and fell on to the fourth floor hotel project he was working on.

Distraught colleagues at the scene hugged each other as fire crews tried, without initial success, to return the man to the ground.

By the time he was lifted down at 6pm, he had unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.
