Can I claim for an accident in a laundrette?

    Types of laundrette accidents

If you have had an accident in a laundrette that was not your fault, and if a doctor treated you for your injuries, we may well be able to help you. It is worth noting that although you always bear some responsibility for your own safety, there is also a legal requirement for places that are open to the public to take precautions to ensure your safety. This means that if, for instance, you slip because the floor was wet and there were no signs to warn you that this was a risk, you should not just put it down to your own carelessness – you could well be entitled to claim.

We deal with many different levels of injury, from burned hands caused by dryers that open before the laundry inside has had adequate time to cool down, to head injuries caused when heavy baskets of laundry fall off the top of machines onto people. We have seen nasty injuries caused by machines that start spinning again after people have opened and reached into them, and we have seen everything from strained muscles to spinal injuries caused by falls.

Please bear in mind that all claims need to be made within three years of the accident happening, unless you want to claim on behalf of an injured child, in which case you may have longer. If there is anything you are unsure about, just give us a call.
