Brands Hatch is situated near Swanley in Sevenoaks, Kent. First used in 1926 as a motorcycling dirt track, the circuit has since become an extremely popular racing venue. This is partly due to the track layout, which blends rapidly changing gradients, cambers, dips, hills and fearsome sweeping corners to perfection.
Brands Hatch races
Featuring two main circuits, the 1.208-mile indy circuit and the 2.433-mile GP circuit, as well as a go-kart track, Brands Hatch was host to 12 British Grand Prix races (1964 to 1986). Today, the circuit hosts an array of prestigious events, including the British:
- F3/ GT
- Touring Car Championship
- Superbike Championship
- Truck Racing Championship
Other main events include the:
- German Touring Car Masters
- F3 Euro Series
- Masters Festival (May Bank Holiday)
- Blancpain Sprint Series

In addition, the track hosts many club level events, as well as offering driving experiences and track days for members of the public.
Track days and driving experiences
Track days allow people to explore the limits of their own bikes and cars within a safe, speed camera-free environment and in the company of like-minded spirits. Driving experiences offered consist of:
- BMW M3 Master
- YoungDrive! and
- YoungDrive! Plus
There are also karting, PalmerSport and race event experiences.
Survival tips for Brands Hatch are simple. To prevent personal injuries when visiting the circuit on race days or partaking in an experience, it is of paramount importance to:
- Remain within allocated areas
- Negotiate the circuit’s facilities with care
- Refrain from consuming excessive amounts of alcohol
- Listen to and follow instructions carefully
- Wear protective gear
The latter three apply especially to drivers about to put their vehicles through their paces. Naturally, it is wise to remember that even experienced race drivers only occasionally have motoring accidents.
