The most dangerous roads in Essex

Like all counties in England, Essex has its fair share of dangerous roads where accidents occur more frequently compared to other roads.

According to a study by the EuroRAP (European Road Assessment Program), one of the most dangerous roads in Essex and in fact, the country, is a short section of the A12 between Romford in Essex and the M25.

Ranked as the third most dangerous road in the country for road traffic accidents, sometimes, suffering a car accident is unavoidable and here’s why.

Why it is one of the the most dangerous roads in Essex?

One main factor which makes the stretch of A12 stretch of road one of the most dangerous in Essex is not only the speed applicable on the road, but the amount of traffic that it carries, which increases the risks of getting involved in a car accident.

While it’s easy to suggest that, if you’re a competent and experienced driver, you’ll avoid road accidents, sometimes they cannot be helped. At the end of the day, you’re not responsible for other drivers on the road and you’re unsure of their driving capabilities and weaknesses.

With everyone in a rush to get where they’re going, many drivers speed, which just increases the risk of getting involved in a car accident.

How to avoid a road traffic accident

There are several things you can do to help prevent a road traffic accident. Before setting off to travel make sure you know your route and allow plenty of time to reach your destination. This will not only reduce stress levels but will make it easier to focus on the road ahead.

As well as this, in order to avoid a car accident on one of the most dangerous roads in Essex, make sure you take several breaks to reduce tiredness. If you start to feel tired, take a break, have some food and water to re-energise. An extra minute’s resting may make all the difference in preventing a car crash.
