"If you've been injured through no fault of your own you could be entitled to compensation. If you're unsure if you could claim, I recommend you call Accident Advice Helpline."

Can you claim if you trip on a university campus?

Thousands of students in the UK attend university. Spending time at university is all about furthering your studies, expanding your knowledge base and learning valuable life lessons. As an institution which provides educational resources, accommodation and learning opportunities for people, a university has a duty to protect its students. If you’ve been injured, for example, you had a trip on a university campus, and you were not to blame, you may be eligible for personal injury compensation.

Who is liable if you trip on a university campus?

If you have a slip, trip or fall anywhere, there’s always a question of liability. Were you to blame for the fall or did you trip because the floor was slippery, the pavement was damaged or the stairs collapsed? If you had a trip on a university campus, and the accident occurred as a result of somebody else’s negligence, you have the right to claim slip, trip and fall compensation. You would be liable if you simply lost your balance or you walked into something or somebody because you were on your phone, for example, but you shouldn’t accept liability if somebody else was at fault. If you tripped over a broken flagstone or you slipped on a wet floor in the canteen which wasn’t marked with a warning sign, call Accident Advice Helpline.
