3 most common accidents at a funfair

The most common accidents at a funfair include things like slips, trips and falls, falling off a ride or getting motion sickness. Funfairs are meant to be, well, fun. The vast majority of the time, they are. Usually, they are the perfect place to enjoy a day or evening with friends and family. However, sometimes, accidents happen, injuries are suffered and the whole occasion is ruined.

What are the most common accidents at a funfair?

Funfairs vary in size. From small local affairs to huge attractions that bring visitors from miles around. Whatever their size, there are some threats to health and safety that are present at all funfairs, carnivals and similar events.

    1. Slips, trips and falls: There are numerous slip, trip and fall hazards at funfairs, making them one of the most common accidents at a funfair. Let’s take a look at the main hazards. The first thing to look at is the rides themselves. Most funfair rides have steps leading up to them and are based on metal floors. If it’s been raining, these present significant slip hazards. Sometimes, the surfaces don’t even need to be wet to become a health hazard. After being spun around on the waltzers, you are bound to be a little unsteady on your feet. This can easily lead to a fall accident. Finally, the numerous power cables used to make the rides function can cause a trip accident unless sufficient care is taken.
    2. Falling off rides: Failure to follow the safety instructions on funfair rides can put your safety in great danger. Even if you follow all procedures, you are trusting that the ride has been through the proper safety tests. If it hasn’t, disaster can strike. Depending on the ride on which the accident occurs, the subsequent injuries can range from discomfort to severe debilitation.
    3. Feeling sick: At no other time would you even think about filling your body with sweets and sugar before spinning, flipping and twisting it around. However, normal rules seem to go out the window at a funfair. This inevitably results in some people suffering from sickness and vomiting.
