True or false? I won’t be fired if I am injured at work

Myth: ‘Those who are injured at work are the first to be dismissed’
If you are unfortunate to have suffered an injury in the workplace then you may be worried, amongst other things, about the security of your job. In fact you cannot be dismissed from work after being injured in the workplace. If you are unsure about your options it is better to seek legal advice.
Myth: ‘I’ll be fired if I make a work-related injury claim’
If you have been injured in an accident at work that was not your fault then you have a legal right to make an accident injury claim. You cannot be asked to leave your workplace after making such a claim or even thinking about it!
If the business is professional, then they will understand the legality behind the claim and will want to make the workplace better for others. If the company does attempt to dismiss you from the workplace for making a personal injury claim then you would have a case for unfair dismissal against them.
Myth: ‘making a claim could cause animosity with other workers and/or the boss’
Many claimants go back to work very successfully after making a claim after an accident at work. The benefits to making a claim include making the workplace safer for other employees, for example, pointing out potential misuse of health and safety guidelines at work, so that further injuries do not happen.
