    Wrist injury

The wrist is made up of eight small bones and two larger bones that are surrounded by a network of tendons, nerves, muscles and ligaments. It is a very flexible but stable joint, giving a wide range of motion to the hand.

Unfortunately, the wrist can be prone to injuries such as sprains and fractures, and the victim may have to wait several weeks to fully recover. Falling onto an outstretched hand, or repetitive use of the joint are just some examples of how you could develop a wrist injury.

    Have you injured your wrist?

Perhaps you have gradually started to notice pain in your wrist or maybe it was a recent accident that caused your condition. The symptoms of a wrist injury can very from person to person, and it is important to visit with your doctor if you are experiencing regular or extreme pain.

You might notice swelling, discolouration around the area and difficulty moving your hand. These are all indications that medical attention is needed as soon as possible. Your GP will be able to further advise you about treating a wrist injury, and how best to mange your pain.

Was someone else to blame for your injury?

The long term effects of a wrist injury can vary, depending on the nature and severity for the condition. For example, a wrist sprain might heal completely in a few short days, where a Repetitive Strain Injury could take much longer.
