How to make long journeys easier – no win no fee* in Cosby

If you have to take a long journey then you will want to keep yourself and your passengers safe and entertained throughout the journey. Driving for a long time is exhausting for both yourself and any passengers, and it can get tense and boring in the car after a little while. Here are some tips on making longer journeys more bearable, and ensuring that you reach your destination in as good a mood as when you left!

    • Plan your journey. Before you leave, plan out your journey in depth so that you know exactly where you are going, where you are stopping, where you can get food or stay overnight and so on. Having this plan worked out will stop you getting lost, hungry or overtired.
    • Have plenty of activities in the car. Make sure there is always something to amuse passengers and yourself, don’t just rely on the passing scenery! Music, audiobooks, DVDs (for passengers only!) and in-car games can help to keep everyone entertained.
    • Take lots of breaks. If there is another driver in the car then you can switch over driving duties every couple of hours or so, and keep moving. If you are the only driver then factor in a few more hours of driving time and make sure that you take a break of at least half an hour every couple of hours to rest.
    • Keep an emergency kit in the car. This should include a first aid kit, emergency food and drink, emergency roadside repair kit, blankets, and even entertainment for if you get stranded or the car breaks down. It is better to have it and not need to use it, than need it and not have it.
